I think there is a bigger picture to your question, that can be explained by noticing how the British really are a mixture of different peoples, essentially. By extension, such is the nature of the Anglosphere, no?

Are you talking about then or now? They were invaders (for the most part) then. Their descendants are citizens now. My guess is that you're talking about the present, but I almost always lose coin flips.
