Which are the most gender-egalitarian societies in the world? (Outside Scandinavia)

As odd and counterintuitive as this may sound, I'd argue that Caribbean societies are. Although very macho cultures in many ways, the reason I believe this is as follows:

(1) They are much more tolerant towards female sexual autonomy than most other cultures are, and the sexual double standard is much less marked there than in most other places. I've never heard about 'honour killings' in the Caribbean as are found in many parts of the MENA and Asia.
(2) Women are encouraged to be strong and outspoken, not meek and submissive. (Unfortunately, this is where the stereotype that Black women are 'unfeminine' probably comes from).
(3) Even when it comes to interracial relationships, the double standard where women who marry out are stigmatised and condemned much more than men who do is nowhere near as marked there as in most other places, including in no small measure Europe and North America. (Although the USA's anti-miscegenation laws in theory banned and censured all interracial combinations in equal measure, in reality BMWF marriages were condemned and prosecuted much more vigorously than anything else). Even in Latin America, for all the stereotypes about people there being very pro-race mixing and wanting to 'mejorar la raza', in reality there is less social tolerance towards regular Mestiza women who marry White (or Black) men than towards regular Mestizo men who marry out.

Netherlands. But then again: consider that a part of Scandinavia. If you look at Hofstede, we're pretty much of that bunch anyway.

Yes Scandinavia, Netherlands and Northern Germany (not so sure about Bavaria) are all extremely similar.

• Scandinavia and The Netherlands: yes, officially. But in practice, in everyday's life, it's not that true.
• Germany: definitively not.
• Basque country: this culture was based on the stem-family, whereby the eldest sibling is the sole heir and inherits the whole estate. Generally, if a woman was the eldest, she would remain the boss and younger brothers whould have no choice but emigrating to South America. A very unique situation.
• Russia : some surveys have shown that in the traditional peasant society average housewives were slightly older than their husbands and had authority over them.
That way you understand the somewhat unpleasant manly behaviour of Russian policewomen and female executives (they are often ruthless bitches).

Any Germanic society or strongly influenced by Germanic cultures.

I have left no. 3 out because it is more or less spot on, but in my opinion you should take a harder look at the Hispanic island Caribbean, cuz the feminicide statistics here are horrendous, usually related to passionate incidents, about male exes not wanting to let go of their former significant others. While the legislation has certainly advanced a lot regarding the equalling the playing field among the sexes, there is still a lot of ground to cover before these locales (Cuba, DR, PR) can reach their regional pairs about this. While Spain may have left the legendary machismo behind, I feel that most of Hispanic America has still to grapple successfully with this.

The situation on the surface in these places seem to be better due to the fact that their legislation more or less follows the one of their respective metropolis (former in the case of the major ones in the British islands). In addition in Jamaica there is a stronger matriarchal element there due to the Maroon influence in the general culture, so that should be taken into account.

Spain definitely not, women have many privileges and advantages than men, the access requirements are lower, in the administration many women are selected only for the fact of being women, companies and all kinds of associations receive subsidies for selecting women, even justice is different according to sex (not even the most sacred thing that is justice has been respected). Now they are trying to get them to earn the same average salary as men, by doing jobs that are much easier, more comfortable, and safer.

at times it gives the feeling that they are incapacitated rather than the opposite sex. In the end all this reaffirms those who think they are inferior to men. In this case it seems to me good that they have a special treatment, although this hurts a lot those women who fought for equality, and who deservedly won it. Now it is no longer possible to know if a woman deserves what she has, or has been given it for being a woman. So many decades of effort to flush it all down the toilet

That was called "mayorazgo" and was a institution originated in Castille, and used anywhere in Spain, could be more usual in the Basque Country because here existed more "hidalgos" due to that what was called "hidalguía universal".

The "mayorazgo" allowed to appoint, if it was deemed convenient, a woman as head.

Similar institutions existed too in your country, as far as I know,(Majorat?), and in Germany or Poland, but I don´t know if they accepted too women as "rulers" of familiar "patrimony".

Edit:probably women are accepted too in your countries as head of Majorat, I am thinking that the rules of succession are quite similar to those of the noble houses, including the royal houses, and all accept at any given time, women as "rulers".
