Do you think it can give me an accurate haplogroup subtype? I already know my haplogroup thanks to 23andMe but if it can give me even more info that'd be neat

I guess you can say I'm an ancestry DNA nut now. I've done 23andMe, AncestryDNA, Family Tree DNA Family Finder and just upgraded my Y37 test to Y111.
I was disappointed with the Y37 test, I must...
You don't think matching with people from that same paternal line on Family Finder and 23andMe lends any credence to it?
No, it's just Y-DNA. It's expensive for what it is, I know. But its the best YDNA test there is, still. I learned nothing from mine, lol.
That's a shame. I thought maybe with the multiple matches and matches on 23andme etc that it was alright but yeah. Damn shame, I haven't learned anything at all from the test then, really. There's so...
I am curious to what degree the modern English are descended from Celtic and pre-Celtic Britons rather than from anglo-saxons and Normans
im wondering why my haplogroup from northern Germany is a Spanish one then. I wonder how that happened
What do you mean by accurate but not precise?
You mean like "R1b" is right but the more exact subclade R-M167 could be wrong?
From what I now know my birth father's family is from northern Germany (schleswig-holstein area) originally. The subclade is R-M167 which the internet tells me is actually Spanish. This seems...
How accurate is 23andMe at getting your haplogroup right? Is there a chance my FTDNA YDNA test will be different?
The surname in question is Robisón , spelled like that with that accent. I can't tell if the surname is Spanish, French or something else entirely
I know this is a super old thread but I've just sent off my YDNA37 kit to ftdna and will update when I get the results back for anyone interested. Thanks for this recommendation btw. I kept it in mind
What is generally the most accurate GEDmatch calculator for Europeans in your experience?
He was born in Cuba to Cuban parents, is a cuban-american politician in exile

A lot of people get >1% oceanian specifically? That's very weird/interesting. So in all likelihood my results basically just mean "100% European"?
So I got my ftdna origin results and also know a lot more about my birth fam now. So basically my actual ethnic origins are Pennsylvania Dutch/Mennonite/old stock german-canadian. My results on ftdna...
I saw a theory online that it was Gothic. It made me curious about the origins
I wonder about Swiss Germans. Do their origins lie in actually Germanic tribes or was the local pre-German population merely germanized? This seems to be the case to me. Same question could even be...
Id like to see someone do DNA testing on ancient Gaulish samples to see what ydna haplogroups show up
I made a post yesterday about a theory on the origins of SRY2627, I made sure to make it clear I dont subscribe to that theory. I tend to think its proto-Celtic in origin and likely tied to the...
Goths I would expect to be haplogroup I, whichever was scandinavian. R1b is found in Iberia, France, Ireland, Scotland in its highest concentrations, leading me to think it was/is connected to Celts
Im inclined to agree. I personally believe its proto-celtic and I think the trace amounts found outside Iberia and France in places like Sweden or w.e are insignificant. Its overwhelmingly...
SRY2627 aka R-m167 is most commonly found in Iberia (especially Catalonia), also found in south west France. There are small amounts found among Ukrainians and Swedes and Finnish people and it is...
That's much higher French and German (and lower British and Irish) than even I have
