    Default Help with French project.

    I have to do a project for my second year of High School french. Now with the knowledge we have so far, you could get by, but I want to have an exceptional one. We have to use pictures and label 10 things. Then we have to describe the room anyway we want in 5 sentences.

    How would you say something is on something else? More specifically, "The computer is on the desk." I know computer is "l'ordinateur" and desk " le bureau". How exactly would I connect the two? This leads to my next question.

    How would you describe the location of one object in reference to another? This is more general, and I'm looking for words like Above, Below, Left, Right, inside, outside, etc.

    I ask here, because there seems to be a large amount of French speakers on this forum. Thanks for any help.

    L'ordinateur est sur le bureau.

    Above = au-dessus

    Below = au-dessous

    Left = gauche

    Right = droite

    Inside = dedans

    Outside = dehors

    Thanks, I have another question if you can help.

    What would the word for a built in closet be? I know l'amoire is for a wardrobe, but I don't think it would be right using it for a built in closet. Are they interchangeable?

    Edit: Nevermind I found what I believe is the better word, "le placard".

    This is irrelevant, but I don't want to make a new thread just for it. I'll just make this my official "French Help" thread. Anyway, I'm trying to fix my pronunciation with an audio CD a family member let me borrow called Pimsleur and I can't mimic "voudrais" and "voudriez". I don't know why, but it seems to be the "dr" sound. The way I pronounce it, the word comes out with a very weird "th" sound, kind of like 'voothray' lol. Can anybody give me tips on how to pronounce that? I hate "r"s they cause problems in almost every language I've had experience with.

    Well I can pronounce it, but it sounds out of place even among my horrid accent and I don't like the way I'm saying it. It also is probably the only word the CD didn't separate for pronouncing. Most words the guy will seperate into phonemes so you can here the sounds slower, but apparently "voudrais" and "voudriez" aren't important. Also my teacher barely bothers to teach us pronunciation. You should here the way some of my classmates pronounce words. Especially with cognates, they don't even try, they just say the English word. They focus too much on grammar in school and you barely get any pronunciation or listening experience. That is why I took it upon myself to fix that. I don't want to end up finding out that out of the four years I take this course that it ends up useless in real world situations.
