    Because the idea of the "Sunday worship" type gathering is more inclusive, involving, stimulating, and joyous than the alternative; a bunch of atheists sitting in a room together drinking coffee and talking with mild enthusiasm about how stupid everyone else is.

    Not "group" as in a little room and coffee, I meant big groups, church size of happy people

    A good thing about religious gathering is the social, community aspect of it. People realise it. Too much individualism isn't always a good thing.
