What a bunch of Nordicist bullshitThe original population in Italy before the Italic invasion predominantly was a Mediterranean / Armenid / Alpine mix, comparable to the basical element of todays population of Italy. For instance, the Etruscians were predominantly Armenid with Mediterranean influences too.
The original indogermanic Italics, who invaded the Italian peninsula at the End of the 2nd century BC were from the same stock than the later Ostrogoths. They are relative pure Nordics of the Hallstatt type and indeed racially related to the Hallstatt people. Although the Nordic element constituted only 10 – 20% of the entire Roman population, it contributed nearly everything to Roman culture and civilization. So, the plebeian masses of the Roman people – men and women of very dark and not very progressive race – numerically made up the bulk of the Roman people, but when we today speak about “ancient Romans” we think of Roman inventors, commanders, statesmen, artists and so on, who predominantly derived from the indogermanic ruling class of the patricians.
Emperor Augustus is a very typical example for the Hallstatt Element in the Roman patriarchy. He reminds me of Swedish actor Max von Sydow (although Max von Sydow is even hyper-dolichocephalic):

In the later Roman Empire, the Romans got a second nordic racial element by former Celtic and Germanic slaves. Especially the Nordic-CM-mixed Germanics made up the best and most reliable Roman legionaries in the late Imperial Period. However, slaves also brought Orientalid, further Armenid, Iranid, Ethiopid and even Negroid elements to the Roman masses during the times of descent.
