    I don't know about the language, but some estimated 30-35% of forlans to be of ancient slavonic ancestors. The area around Aquileia become unpopulated after the fall of the Empire, so the Archbishop of Aquileia called the slavonic (old slavs) to settle some areas ot eh region.

    the romansh are also northern italians, that means Hans. R. Giger, creator of the xenomorph of the Alien franchise, is one of us. I suspect he's romansh or partly so.

    Boreanaz is a typical surname if i remember well.

    Minor, but it's there. They also have Celtic/Gaulish influence.

    Yeah it can sound foreigner because a lot of the forlan surnames are strange (Adamic, Albiech, Krancic, Forlan, Furlan, Boreanaz, Murůszach, Velicaz, Tomadic, Pallaver, Tomaduz, etc).

    But it's forlan.
