The reason they are mad is because he films everything they do and peers into their houses. This is pretty typical for Indians I guess.

Beating your face for staring is pretty typical in australia....

So all this began because some guy stared at them? How fucking paranoid are suburbanites to escalate such a small thing into a bloody news story. People stare at others everywhere, all the time, and is no reason to call the police. Unless he looks into their homes to see what they're doing no crime has been committed.
