Pierre Mendès France (French: [pjɛʁ mɑ̃dɛs fʁɑ̃s]; 11 January 1907 – 18 October 1982) was a French politician who served as President of the Council of Ministers (equivalent to Prime Minister) in 1954-55. It was under the government of Mendès France that France withdrew its military forces from Vietnam in 1954.

Mendès France was descended from a Portuguese Jewish family that moved to France in the 16th century.
