Theyhave their own colleges and do speak their own language. I dated a girl who was half native and half Anglo-Saxon [Or welsh her surname was Parker], anyway she knew her native side's language. Not entirely but enough for conversation. She use to go to Pow Wows and other events. The worst things America did to natives was force Christianity on them and trade alcohol with them as it is against their religion to drink. East England was stolen land as the Anglo-Saxons robbed it from the indigenous Celts [not that care too much as Hibernians and Britons never got along in history. ]

They really are not that few. Some of her relatives lived on a reservation. Infact many tribes still practice their old religion which is pretty cool.

Some do, indeed - honestly I don't care about the culture thing, it's more of the land thing.

But they really are that few. Apart from Navajo (~79,000 speakers) no Native language has even 20,000 speakers and only three (Inuit, Lakota, Cree) have over 10,000. The rest are dying, dead, or moribund.

North East. Her tribe is small but not that small. Tribes belonged to bigger confederations that spoke similar languages and had similar belief systems. Im sure they will be preserved. The Native tribes that own casinos do fairly well.
