What do you think? I'm exclusively referring to the populations living in the Caribbean.

A comparison between Puerto Rico and the Dominican middle class would be fair, although I can't say the same for the rural/lower classes of the Dominican Republic.

Cuba these days. Cuba is more African in culture these days. Puerto Rico is at this moment, the least African region island in the Caribbean. I think,

Cuba. More African influence than in Puerto Rico, although at the same time today's Cuba is probably more African than the Dominican Republic is.

Cubans seems more wordly and race-conscious to me. Not to mention, there hasn't been much cultural exchange between us in recent years. Most people barely know anything about contemporary Cuban culture, and are much more likely to view Venezuela as a source of kinship.

There seems to be a strong Criollo culture in a lot of the provinces outside of La Habana.

In some ways each of the three might be distinct. I think the three countries exist on a continuum if anything.

I don't consider Cuba more African than the DR. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the average Cuban on the island were 65% European. People only perceive them to be significantly darker than Puerto Ricans because they're more mulattoid than the more Triracial Puerto Ricans, who can often look like Castizos. Cubans also have a more outdoorsy lifestyle than Puerto Ricans do, making them more pigmented than them on average. Despite all that, a surprisingly large proportion of Cubans show no more than 30% SSA-influence craniofacially.

Crowds like these are bizarre in the Dominican Republic:

    So are families like these:
