    Default European upper eyelid profiles

    Roughly the European upper eyelid profile can be divided into two categories: visible and invisible. The difference is caused by the suborbital ridge. If the ridge is high and covers the upper part of orbit, as it is in case of more primitive skull shape ("hunter-gatherer looks"), the eyelid remains hidden under the bone. Examples:

    Looks with high suborbital ridge



    Looks with low suborbital ridge

    Such eyelids are quite common in Scotland, one of the distinguishing features that often sets them apart from southern England especially where the Med influence creeps in
