Dont care what people do in their private lives just dont want to know about it. When you have kids and want to grow them pure within a family unit away from this sort of trash it does make the parent disgusted.

The problem is that therapy doesn't seem to completely help them. Not even the surgery. It's really complicated. It's like depression, it's a recurring thing.

I'm not going to sit here and pretend that I understand what these people think, since I don't, so I won't contest the points you're making on that front. I just think that the solution to a mental illness can never be to give in to what said illness wants. I don't think that there's a set of magic words that a therapist can say to someone feeling this way that will cure them of their affliction, but rather that a therapist can hopefully be an insightful and non-judgemental source of support for these people that will inspire and/or encourage them to make better changes in the rest of their lives, that will end in them ultimately feeling more fulfilled and happier.

Life is so, so more than which gender you happen to be born as - and I think obsessively focusing on being a certain gender is a mental issue all by itself. If it's really similar to depression, as you say, then I think it's simply a mental illness born and bred out of people having very unfulfilled lives and subconsciously adopting an identity crisis to compensate for that. I'm not a psychologist and I don't know what the answer is, but mutilating or surgically altering your body beyond recognition is not it, especially when you'll technically never actually be able to change your gender anyway - your chromosomes will always remain the same.

At the end of the day, I sympathise to some degree for people who feel like they're born in the wrong gender, but I'm opposed to the idea that their delusions should be tolerated, encouraged and propagated throughout modern society to the extent that they are today. It's a mental illness, so it's time to start treating these people in the appropriate way as befits such an affliction.

I am not against it as long as the person doing it is an adult, consents to it, and makes the personal choice to do this. They also should know the risks involved with the surgery and procedures, and that it is a life changing event that will not magically solve all of their problems, and it may make new problems.

I know 2 people who transitioned and they both did this as adults well past their 20s 30s, and lived as the gender/sex they were born for decades before ever deciding to do this, saw therapists who specialize in gender issues, and before they discovered they are Transgender.

It is not something I would personally ever do, and if I have children who as kids/teens think they are Trans I would have them see a therapist, and tell them how they have their entire life to transition as adults, if this is what they want to do as adults. I have met people who thought they are Transgender but after seeing a therapist they discovered how they are just transvestites/cross-dressers and have no desire to get the full transition, all surgeries, live as the opposite sex/gender, etc.

I do think that it's a bit extreme to tell kids/teens who are or could be Transgender or are questioning if they are, that they simply must take hormones, get surgeries, etc.
