The Pashtuns are not Central Asian population, they are Indians, their majority live in the historical Indus valley region and their racial character is highly mixed with Indid elements. Central Asia started on the other side of the Hindukush.

The pashtuns are not indian and don't look like indians. Pashtuns look like and cluster with other east Iranic people like Pamiris, Nuristanis, etc and are genetically and physically distinct from indians.

None of those people are extinct they just merged into modern peoples the Khwarezmites mostly merged with Kurds, about 30-40% of Kurds descend from Central Asian Khwarezmites and Indo-Aryans.
