What saddens me about italian-americans is that they don't have a clear view of many things that happen in Italy, they don't even know about the cultural, traditional and linguistical differences in the various areas of Italy. I guess that most don't even know what Lombard Language is. Italian-Latin Americans are much more aware of this.

Anyway, there were plenty of 1st generation Italian immigrants from both the north and south in my mom's old neighborhood. And yes, regional differences were recognized.
