Hungary recovers from fuzzy European dreams

This is an old Hungarian tradition to balance between a two superpower. 500 years ago Hungary was the buffer zone of the Holy Roman Empire and Ottoman Empire. Therefore I don't think we would be once more Russian colony. I think our Premier, Viktor Orban have made a good strategy to do the country more livable.

This was tradition of mostly Transylvanian (mostly Protestant) princes, like Thököly, Bocskay,Bethlen and not Habsburg Catholic part of Hungarian Kingdom.

Orban has this policy because he is Calvinist. If he was Catholic he would be much more anti Russia and pro EU.

This is not about religion as the Transylvanian princes convert to the protestantism because they are against the Habsburg court.
