It's two weeks after my hysterectomy and I am doing surprisingly well.
All that crazy walking helped make recovery go a lot faster.
I wanted to go back to work this week but it won't be possible. My abdomen still feels very thick and heavy although the bruising is almost gone. There is still pain but it is manageable. I can't cough without pain yet and I try hard not to laugh too loudly because it hurts. But I'm slowly getting better.
Because my ovaries were removed too, I am now officially in menopause. Instead of slowly slipping into and out of it in my 50's, it has started hitting me like a train. And let me tell you this, it ain't a walk in the park.
My moods in the past two weeks have become completely irrational. I am completely unrecognizable to myself. I mean, the other night I was sitting and doing my crochet, and crying buckets whilst listening to Pantera. Who the fuck cries at heavy metal music???? Less that half an hour later I came across a song that gave me so much lust for living. I was ready to party like it's 1989. I haven't turned aggressive (yet) and hopefully won't. We are bundle of menopausal women at work which could lead to conflict when everyone's are out of sync with each other. I'm joining the rest of the insane menopausals at work now, even I'm 10 years younger than the rest. I have general way of wiping my ass on bitch co-workers but this might bring my inner bitch out. I'm not looking forwards to that.
Also, the hot flushes have started. It started as a strange vibration in my abdomen, which crawled up my chest and ended feeling like blow torch being lit in my face. That was no fun. I'm sweating buckets when it's cold outside.
Things down there don't smell the same either. In an intact female, the vagina is most acidic. In menopause it becomes alkaline. So I'm experiencing some weird and wonderful smells down there that aren't particularly pleasant.
My vagina has been cut off and tied into knot.
My husband said there is no way he is going anywhere near November.
Lots of new things I have to become accustomed to.
But I have the support of the two most lovely men in my who look after me welll
In a nutshell, besides the pain, I am happy.
