We know that the Proto-Indoeuropeans originated on the South Russian Steppe, and racially they were definitely Europids, between robust Pontid, and Nordid with Cromagnid influence according to the skeletal evidence. These Proto-Indoeuropeans were not exactly the same people who invaded India though, because by that time they had been in West Asia for a long time, and mixed with the natives. Although the Vedas do mention some European traits like blonde hair, and blue eyes in some people. Another thing is, the Indian Aryans did mix with the Dravidians, and the result can be seen in North India today.
As for the Indus Valley Civilization, which ButlerKing mentioned, that did have some ''Australoid'' elements, which were Weddid actually, and even some Mongolid, but the majority of the skeletal evidence seems to be Europid as well, Indid mainly, and the elite was probably made up of North Indid types.
