Solutreans have an origin in france.
Clovis artifacts were the earliest known in the americas for a long time. It was assumed they came across a land bridge from eurasia, but it's since been discovered that the clovis people predate the land bridge. They also have the vast majority of their settlements around the east coast. There's also evidence of migration westward in the form of large caches of tools that were brought west but made with eastern materials. There's also very few sites similar to clovis in siberia, and the dates of those sites are later, implying that they actually came from america to siberia.
So it's pretty clear they did not come from the west and go east, but somehow crossed over from europe if they came from anywhere. Especially since they also have tools with materials proven to come from greenland and very difficult to reach portions of Hudson Bay. This is well over 10k years old, yet they had to have crossed over a thousand miles of iceberg filled ocean to get this special material. The locations of clovis sites are also where the controversial R y-dna and X mtdna in native americans are found. This area where 'mixing' with europeans was found also centers on the canadian border so the idea it's from 'mixing' is pretty silly, especially when X is a very rare mtdna chromosome.
It's been speculated that the solutreans were the origin of clovis a long time, but now they finally have the smoking gun. That is, they have found actual solutrean sites that predate clovis sites on the east coast of USA, and more shockingly they used a trawler to dredge up solutrean artifacts FOURTEEN MILES OFF THE EAST COAST, IN THE OCEAN. So any doubt that the Solutreans had seafaring capability are now put to rest. It's obvious that the Solutrean hypothesis is correct, now. They also must have been ancestors of the mound builders, as well, giant cities in north america that were inhabited til about 1500 AD and then mysteriously depopulated.
This has been a long time coming since there's so many similarities between clovis and solutreans, but it's still pretty amazing. They were both known for great artwork, as well, and being much more advanced than anything else for their time. It's clear now that they settled a large part of the united states then got mostly wiped out and replaced by people who are actually much more primitive in the sophistication of their tools and in their artwork (if they had any at all).
