Question When did you first use the Internet?

    And what for?

Did you, at the time, think it would be as revolutionary as it has turned out to be?

What was the first forum you joined?

    Discuss.

hehe... one of the first ones...
Cannot remember what it was called, but it was about future planning, people were worried the us would fall apart from social tension... so i wrote several texts on how a war or new threat would be good to find.
Preferably someone who could never hope to strike back, and didnt have any friends.

Later got a thank you email from CIA.

And when i went to the us, they apologised i had been put thru all the security arrangements... and taken via sidepaths thru the rest of them..

..so im a bit afraid i just might have invented the neo-cons back in -95..

Few years ago, two, maybe three, I did have internet access but was not all that interested, did check on football results here and there and tv guide. Apricity is my 2nd forum of this kind, metalstorm.ee was the first one I participated seriously, official reviewer, interviewer and wrote several blogs before I got banned, then some National-Socialist one, was a senior moderator, before I got facts into my head from my ass, aaand got banned, nowdays, use it for online gaming and Apricity and music/movies piracy once in a blue moon, download a CD or a movie, that's about it

I also work(ed) for numerous webzines such are Spirit of Metal (the only one I still work for), Soundchaser, Paganfront, was also working with several bands of which I really miss, guys from Finnish badn Dying Fire - Please check them out if you're in Power Metal (miss you old farts ), and guys and girls from Slovenian Black Metal act Mor Zaboth and all of that would not be possible without internet

Ohh... Damn. I didn't try it out before about 2001 or so. First forum I ever attended was Halonorge, then Nofo, third was TA, now, I've been kicked from the middle one, and haven't been the first one for years.

I think that I was 17 so it must have been in 1999. My foster house was the first one to get it in all of Brabant so we made it into the papers.
The first time online I remember that I had a chat with a girl from Australia. Later on I just used it for surfing around- I was much more into gaming back then.

The first forums that I joined was a game forum from Cybernations- a game alliance and the game forum.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

When I first discovered the wonders of internet porn as a ween.
"Free, do you call yourself? Then I would hear your ruling thought, and not merely that you have escaped from a yoke. Are you one of those who had the right to escape from a yoke? Many a one has cast away his last worth when he has cast away his servitude. Free from what? What does that matter to Zarathustra! But your fiery eyes should tell me: free for what?" - Thus Spoke Zarathustra

When did I first use the Internet? I reckon it was back in 1995 when I took a course in the library school at my university. There was a fair amount of goth stuff online back then...

I didn't have a modem for my IBM XT or Apple IIc in the 80s, but I used usenet and tried eMail back then through academic networks.

Then came BBSes which re-localized network access, followed by Telnet through BBSes which was surpassed by widely available and cheap dial-up through the major providers like Prodigy, AOL, CompuServe and of course FreeNet which was free text based internet access.
