Russia is cool but it endevours to much to be a pretentious kitsch version of Europe rather than being like Europe.

Actually Russia is a very interesting phenomenon: culture from East Roman Empire and Slavs + ongoing influence of European project of St Petersburg; physical nature from North and Slavs. That's a very strange mixture.

On the other hand the US has culture from Europe and West Roman Empire (its statehood).

They are opposites of something one.

Actually Putin is also mainly liberal from this team (all these guys are old comrades of him).
They are pro-Western liberals which dreamed Russia to join European Union (at least part of Russia, if it breaks up again). Aside from what Western mass media is saying to its fully ignorant listeners.

This is liberal politics of post-industrial society with market of services. They deliberately destroyed Russian industry to prevent any restoration of Communism.
But back in 1990 Soviet engineering tools were in popular demand in the Paris trade exhibition (all were sold to West Germany, Japan etc.). So the industry wasn't so bad, considering this example. Not to mention engineering tools are more important than simple machines.

Nope, that system was created by Brezhnev when oil was discovered in Tyumen oblast in large quantities. The so called "stagnation" under Brezhnev is a result of this discovery, the country didn't need to progress anymore, it could sell oil and fill the gaps with the income.

Yes, but Soviet Union had its own technologies, and Russia still has some of them. For instance Skoda uses almost only German technologies, having lost all original Czech stuff that's why Germany gets more income from Skoda's production, than Czhechia, since it turned into a German assembly plant. Same with China.

It's very important and profitable to possess your own licence and your own technologies. And Soviet specialists contributed a lot in the contemporary high-tech development in many fields. Too bad the licence belongs to the West again.

So, the Soviet industry had serious problems but it wasn't helpless and had a competitive potential at least.

No, it's "doh-sveeh-dah-neeyah" (if to read in English transliteration).
It doesn't sound like this at all.

Why should they give a SHIT about Europe and being European. Despite being a part of Europe they have been at the receiving end of European imperialism for the past century.

Syrians also "look" European, it doesn't mean they are European. Also, during Cold War you Arabs were the good guys and the Russians were bad. So you were treated as whiter than Russians and faced lesser discrimination because of that. One can only imagine.

Soviet Union seemed more like an Asian country than a European one. Just look at the leaders, history, communism, etc. they all point toward Asian values rather than European ones. So we must reconsider.

Russia is Eurasian, in every possible aspect (like any other orthodox country):

    - culture: cyrillic alphabet, the EASTERN orthodoxy, many words in Russian language, the carpets/rugs on walls, the kitschy ''taste'', the shape of their churches, even their priests wear beard like Muslim imams or Jewish rabbis

    - geography: everything is clear about this

    - geopolitics: also, even dugin admits that

    - genetics:

Even in the western part of Russia there are around 5%-10% of East Asian genetics.
