Yes east ukraine and crimea are Russian lands.
They speak Russian and most of them have russian blood.
Furthermore it will add many ethnic Europeans in Russia, lands and power to one of the last hope of the European Civilization.

There is no such thing as "international law". There are loosely enforced U.N. ideals etc.

Systems of laws are closed systems, by international law it is implied that the systems are open and there is unbounded exchange of authority i.e. local jurisdiction is stomped upon. Good luck with that. There is not enough water for this.

Russia should intervene if it must like if the new "government" starts baning the use of the Russian language. I don't know why Poland and Germany insist on provoking Russia haven't they learned anything from their history
