Around 200 Coca-Cola workers continued protesting against planned lay-offs in close proximity to Madrid's Congress building on Tuesday. Coinciding with Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy's 'State of the Nation' speech, those attending held banners, waved flags and chanted anti-closure slogans.

The protesters reportedly reject Coca-Cola's offer to lower the number of lay-offs in Spain to 1,190 from the previous figure of 1,253.

Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy's 'State of the Nation' speech primarily focused on economic issues in the country. Spain's unemployment rate stood at 26 percent in the fourth quarter of last year.
