Default The Noble Buddha Nepalese or indian?

The Buddha born in Lumbini, Nepal.

How come Indians claim Buddha, he is clearly a Nepalese by birth.

India is a country today but, a geographic wide region covering the whole subcontinent and beyond in the past while Nepal is a region with it's own kingdom (formerly) similar to Austria in Europe for e.g. Hitler is both German, yet also Austrian, therefore, Buddha is a Bharata vasati or Hindustani while also being from Nepal.

I did. I should note that it was the Indians who spread Buddhism around Asia. If it wernt for them, Buddhism would not be a major religion.
