Default What is the appeal of the Dangerous?

Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche once said to live fully one must live dangerously. What is the attraction of humans to danger?

It's the adrenalin effect. Makes you feel very alive and awakened; heightens your senses.

When you are in danger you live in the moment and think of nothing else but the now. Because you are not distracted by thinking of tomorrow you experience the moment fully and thus *really* live.

...but according to him I'm supposed to just want to be a plaything and want nothing beyond pregnancy...guess I'm not fit to judge this matter...

Is it about danger itself, in which case the effects of adrenalin itself are a sufficient answer, or is it about getting outside your safety zone? I wonder if the point is closer to this passage in Jung' Red Book:

But how can I attain this knowledge of the heart? You can attain this knowledge only by living your life to the full. You live your life fully if you also live what you have never yet lived, but have left for others to live or to think.
Also, if you live too safely and only surround yourself with people that agree with you, you will insulate yourself from the most basic reality checks and have your illusions reinforced.

I've read that Adrenaline can be more addictive especially to some people than Cocaine. The Thrill of meeting a threat and surviving can be very addicting. Which may explain why some men can't stop taking risks.

I think it explains Hitler well, even though his rational mind knew that he could lose all if he lost WWII and that it was a real possibility, the Cave man in him told him that he must gamble for greater winnings.

He had an all or nothing attitude about life that bored on the insane. But I think it is because of this very willingness to Gamble and take huge risks that helped him achieve what he achieved.
