    Whilst Dutch may be more closely related to Low German than Low German is to High German, of course that does not make Low Germans Dutch.

    Genetically northern Germans are more closely related to the Dutch than they are to Bavarians or Austrians, though.

    No. Low German is closer related to High German than to the Dutch. Low German is only a dialect of the German, while Dutch is a different language. Dutch has also different words which are not present in the Low German and vice versa the same.

    And North Germans are also not closer related to the Dutch than to South Germans or Austrians.

    As you can see, measured on the two main haplogroups R1a and R1b, North Germans are closer to South Germans.

    LOL man. Low german is not dialect of high german, it's different and distinct language. It's closer to dutch than to bavarian or austrian languages/dialects.

    High german speakers in that area are just immigrants. At least most of them.
