They met at Heybeliada/Halki, one of the Princes' Islands in the Marmara Sea. My dad was spending the summer time there, and my mom went there for vacation. My dad saw my mom and got interested, my mom also fell in love with him as a handsome, blue-eyed blonde guy looking like Kevin Bacon. My dad was playing local football back then, he invited her for his game and then things got serious.

My mom's family didn't really approve of my dad at first because he was a drinker but they had to give in eventually. My dad and his father in law (RIP) later became drinking buddies lmao.

They worked together, but not in the same department, they met when my mother petitioned something in my dad's department and met face to face.

It was a blind date arranged by some friends. I'm not sure how the two of them ended up together in the longer term because they were so fundamentally different. EVERYTHING about them was different. After three children (two of which died) and long-term physical abuse (which was responsible for the stillbirth - he kicked her in the stomach) they divorced.
