If nothing, I remember WW1 alliance and I like to believe they remember it too and haven't really enjoyed bombing us not long ago.

I have mixed feelings towards the French but the positive outweighs the negative I have (old) French admixture so I cannot complain.

They are culturally on the top, miles above the rest of the south*

*The location of France is up to debate

For what it's worth, French nationalists are usually pro-Serbian (if it means anything after the Balkan wars have come and gone), be it only because the bombing of Serbia is seen as a NATO machination and going against French interests.

The average Frenchman is unaware of these things though, and supported it when the media were flooded by ghastly images of mean Serbians killing peaceful Bosnians.
The people behind these are very good at appealing to the gentle nature of the French people, and they keep doing it again and again to justify wars.
I'm not against invading a foreign country once in a while, it's good for health, but it should at least be done when it profits to us.

You hit the nail on the head already, by explaining the reason why I personally never tend to like French from the rest of Western Europeans...It's true however your historically known to be Pro-Slavic thus differs quite alot with Western Europeans in many direction.

I respect France and French people and I see no reason why they shouldn't be proud.

First of all, they have rich history and they had many awe-inspiring rulers throughout the history. Bourbon dynasty is, for me, one of the most interesting European dynasties. And then there’s Napoleon and all the things he managed to do. Pretty impressive. I won’t even start talking about their architecture and their castles *.* (one of my biggest wishes is to travel throughout the France and to visit their famous castles and other historical buildings). I like to judge countries based on their history, so France has a big +

I also like their art, mostly paintings. Rococo style and Jean Honore Fragonard, Jacques Louis David, Eugene Delacroix … some of the best European artists, no one can deny that.

And I think it's funny how Americans find themselves insulted because French people don’t want to talk to them in English when they come to France. I don’t know if that’s the truth (I often see comments like that), but even if it is, they don’t have the obligation to talk to someone in English. Tourists should at least learn a few foreign words to show their respect. I said I don’t know if it’s true because my mother visited France couple of years ago and she had the best time there. French people were very nice to her, and they talked in English without problems. In addition, one of my best friends spent one year in France on student-exchange program and she still talks how people there were nice.

Leliana calling the Napoleonic wars a decisive German victory

The Germans did beat them in the Franco-Prussian war but that's it (thanks to us).

We have a long tradition of odd and inventive "pincer" alliances to fuck with our neighbors (Scotland, Venice, the Ottomans, Sweden, Poland, Russia, Serbia, England [which was certainly one of the oddest alliances in our history, even though it looks almost natural these days] etc. We even considered the Mongols during the Crusades).

I don't consider us allies. It's been 110 years since the Etente Cordial. We had fought you for 838 years previously. If this alliance holds another 728 years I'll reconsider my position.
