I don't have any prejudice against Romanian, it's just completely alien to me, considering it's a Romance language.

The oldest extent document in Romanian dates back from the beginning of the XVIth century. It's extremely late compared to other Romance languages (French having its first extent literary text during the IXth century, for example).
