Default Would southern Italians fit better as native northern Italians, or as Cypriots?

By native north Italians I mean ethnic Venetians, Piedmontese, Lombards etc. and not those mixed with recent southern ancestry.

By southern Italians I mean everything south of Rome, NOT including Abruzzo and Molise. So basically Campania, Calabria, Apulia, Lucania and Sicily.

Southern Italians are intermediate between both groups in question.

as usual I always say that it would be better to ask the people involved, however if you asked a southern Italian you would answer that he is very close to the Italian north, but in reality is totally the opposite ....,
the example that has been proposed is not true, because people are actually representative of Liguria in most other regions,

    some example of the reality
    ligurian

    calabrians

    cypriots

and in any case as I see it, many southern Italians look a lot more in Iraq or arabian, that Cypriots, which I seem to have a lot of influence from modern Greece, which seem clearer to me of the Italian south

In roman times, Tito Livio writes that 40.000 ligurians were deported from their place of origin into suthern Italy. The reason was because ligurians were very fierce warriors and did not accept roman domination. They had to fight them very hard before subduing them. So they thought that moving them far away from their place they would change their minds. Romans gave them pieces of land to work in and effectively they obtained what they wanted.
take into account that 40.000 people (men, women and children) in those times were a lot of people. The peninsula was not so pupulated as it is today.
