It's because the Middle East is almost associated with Arabic-speaking countries. People think of stoning, terrorists, suicide bombers, never-ending wars and Semitic part of the region when they hear 'Middle East'. That is why most people who live in northern part of the West Asia (including Turks) don't want to be on the same boat with them.

By the way, it's interesting that people who know nothing of Turkish culture (except for some cliches they see on tv) are so eager to comment on it

Turkish culture is not European, but it's surely not Middle Eastern/Semitic either. It is intermediate between Pre-Turkic Anatolian and Turkic Central Asian elements IMO

Genetics wise, i think we can identify ourselves as Eurasians

Because they are not Semitic. They have their own complex culture, influenced by many others.

Turkish culture is a fusion of caucass, middle east and balkans. Both sweeden and spain are european but can you classify them at the same culture except for the religion? You can see headscarved sisters in ukraine and italy, same goes for turkey, if there is headscarved women in turkey and iraq that's not mean we share everything. European wannebee turks are so pathetic, but same goes for some middle easterners who trying to portray turkey as "%100 middle eastern" and who dont addmit it blame as "european wannabee" personally as a central-north anatolian, i feel myself between somewhere in middle east and balkans, but a black sea turk share zero thing with a middle east except for the religion.

Americans are too dumb to offend me, they can't even find the US on a map, let alone categorizing people. They even mistake Hindus and Sikhs for Arabs lol

wow your dumb as hell. and so touchy, First off you caught a titty tantrum. you assumed I was making a claim. And second I even admitted that turks look like they have origin in central asia. Second I know turkey is by the balkans. In fact My haplogroup J2 is supposed to have originiated around that area between turkey and the balkans.

I wouldn't get offended if someone called me Middle Eastern. There is nothing offensive about that. However Anatolia, like Caucasus, generally tends to be different than rest of Middle East, so perhaps it's more accurate to label it as part of Western Asia in general or simply seperatively as 'Anatolia'.
