Anatolia has historically been considered a region on its own; the civilizations that dominated around here had nothing to do with the Middle East. No matter if you accept it or not Turkey is a heir to these civilizations.

I'm not denying Middle Eastern influence in modern Turkey but there's a bunch of other influences other than that. Why are they ignored and what makes the Middle Eastern influence more special so that Turkey can be considered Middle Eastern?

Turks are offended because you stupid ignorant racist people are unable to distinguish between Turks and Arabs and consider anything associated with Islam "Middle Eastern".

They might be offended because it brings about negative prejudices and want to distance themselves from it and are to extent Westernized. Though I would agree that countries like Armenia and the Caucasus are not the Middle East, apart from Azerbaijan which has a lot of Persian cultural influence which connects ultimately to the Oriental/Islamic Middle Eastern civilization. Turkey is geographically in the Middle East and Europe, it's transition, some embrace it others don't it depends on the person.

Arabian roots to the " Oriental civilization ? give me a fucking break. Arabs had a big role in the ME civilizations between the late 600s-1000s, before and after this time period arabs were and became irrelevant.

genetically they're mixed, and in racially issues, too. Linguistically + culturally, they're Altaic Central Asians and geographically they're western Asians. These all make them a unique people to me

probably because they were both islamists and the fact that the ottomon empire included sorrounding middle eastern countries.
