I feel sad that some people are happy to see the fall of Christianity in England. If they honestly think that what is coming next is going to be grand, then I pity them, because their expectations are going to be dashed.

But they'll see soon enough for themselves.

I think that Spengler had it right with his prediction of a coming "Second Religiousness," religious-type movements and beliefs born from the masses, which will be suspicious of the elite and their rationalism.

Then that would be exchanging one extreme for another. Rationalism is vital, so long as one does not take the Socratic route, in the Nietzschean sense, and completely reject the Dionysian.

Spengler does not insist it to be right or wrong but inevitable, a phase in the cycle.

It still has wonderful choral music, cathedrals and rituals, but that's all now.
