Nope. It will depend on the region. Northerners are lighter or as light as Slovenes. Those of the far-north are definitely lighter, while Southerners are darker. This is why, I think it is an irrational comparison. France is the largest country in Western Europe, comparing to some small landlocked nation in South-Central Europe is nonsense. French populations are much more diverse with Romance, Teutonic, Celtic, Basque, Scandinavian, even Ancient Greek blood. France has a huge immigrant population as well thus might appear darker, but Native French people are not!
