You are correct by going the military route Hubs did the same thing. He became a naval aviator through his training in the Coast Guard.
His first solo flight ever (small airplane owned by his father) was his 16th birthday. In fact he learned to fly before he learned to drive LOL

Norway might be a nice place to live, like many other countries in the world, but believe me there is no place in this world like Mediterranean area. I've seen lot of Norwegians going crazy and dream to stay down south, something similar like canadians staying in Florida or California.

It's a fact that Norway is the no.1 nation in the world for the best quality of life. It's also the land of the magical northern lights, vast fjords, the land of Odin and Thor and Freya, strong Vikings (they were the first navigators to discover North America, Canada, Greenland, etc) and the land of the midnight sun. They have a lot of good metal bands, musicians, and singers. They have oil reserves. They make good cruise-liner ships. They are a rich country and have very few poor people and they have high standards of education. They have a good currency and a strong economy too. Plus Norway, (like Iceland and Switzerland) is an independent country and not merely a 'state' of Europe, but a nation in their own right, and they're not governed by unelected eurocrats in Brussels. Long live Norway!
