Default Old Hag Syndrome - Sleep Paralysis

I have never experienced this, but have known many personally who have. Old Hag Syndrome or Sleep paralysis is the experience of waking up paralyzed and feeling a heavy weight on your chest. It is often accompanied by the visage of a ghost atop of you or beside you, and according to Old Norse stories (where the term Old Hag comes from), it is often in the form of an old woman.

Medical doctors have identified this condition as sleep paralysis, however, all the individuals that I've known who have experienced this are convinced that they had experienced a ghost or a demon. This is a great video on the experience.

So have any members experienced this?

I started experiencing it last February from a bad flu I had. Afterwards, I continued having it. I guess my body "adapted" to it, or that flu triggered it in a way.

It's a frightening, although intriguing, experiencing. Your body paralyzes (as its name suggests). You then start to hear humming and buzzing sounds, your body also tingles and vibrates, and you feel a presence in you room (you don't always see the 'entity' - I've seen it once and it was a cloaked figure though). As frightening and oppressive as the experience is, you sort of do feel euphoric oddly. In worst cases, you can feel like somebody is dragging out of your bed. You can also have an out of body experience and hear eerie whispers.

For me it's like a scary rollercoaster ride. It's thrilling and there is some exciting, but you can be frightened as hell.

P.S. I just had one last night. It was a mild one. I could only move toes. It happens when I'm sleeping on my stomach. I felt constricted to my bed, like somebody has pinned me on it. It's uncomfortable and feels like your heart and breathing may stop. But it eventually wears off.

Never had this, but sometimes in the morning I'm half-awake, half-asleep and sometimes I have unsettling thoughts then.

I've had sleep paralysis. Where i'm wide awake and alert but cant move any body part except my eyes. Its scary, because you fear to be stuck, but i always eventually wiggle myself out after 10 seconds or so. I've never experienced heavy weight on my chest or a old hag, or any other spirit.

Closest I can get to this is one time when I was sort of awake not being able to move and I felt how someone was entering the house(from the first floor and starting to come up the stairs to my room which is on the 4th.I snapped out of it just as he was in the hallway about to enter the room and I sat there with my gun for a few minutes before processing what happened.

Never seen any old bags or ghosts but that was some horror movie shit.

The laws are the same as anywhere in Eu.

I am not a civilian so I have a bit more gun privileges.

Some many years ago, it was a topic of discussion on the late night "Coast-To-Coast" Radio Talk Show. The OP pretty much summarizes what they spoke about, in that night's call-in show.

It could be quite a lot of things: Perhaps, a ghostly spirit visitation, or deity visitation, combined with the prelude to an out of body experience (also known as astral projection). When experiencing an out of body experience, the spirit-self is ejected out of the mortal body, and sometimes ventures beyond the area of the physical body.

The out of body experience is a logical explanation for our eventual transition between life and death. Some people have witnessed a "silver cord" that connects the spirit body to the physical body. At the time of death, the silver cord is broken, thus severing the connection between the mortal body and the everlasting soul.
