    Default Italian portraits through classic paintings

    - Portrait of Monna Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci.

    Monna Lisa was a Florentine noble (full name was Lisa Gherardini, member of a well-known Tuscan family).




    - Portrait of Cecilia Gallerani by Leonardo Da Vinci.
    Cecilia Gallerani was a Milanese courtisan of Tuscan origin (Gallerani family was from Siena moved to Milan for political reason, I guess).




    - Portrait of Lucrezia Pucci Panciatichi by Agnolo Brozino

    Lucrezia Panciatichi was the wife of Florentine Bartolomeo Panciatichi. Her birth name was Lucrezia Pucci, member of another well-known Florentine family.

    Bartolomeo Panciatichi was a Florentine noble, his family was from Pistoia, Tuscany. He was the husband of Lucrezia Pucci, known as Lucrezia Panciatichi.

    Ludovico Bronzino was a Florentine banker member of a well-known Tuscan Family.




    - Portrait of Bindo Altoviti by Raffaello Sanzio.
    Bindo Altoviti was a Banker born in Rome but member of a well-known Florentine family, the Altoviti.

    What a great skill and talent these artist had, and think these were painted hundreds of years ago.

    Around XVI century AD, so 500 years ago. But some fo these paintings are even older, XV century AD.

    The great detail in these paintings. It is quite amazing. Actually in Melbourne, Australia they displaying Italian paintings from that period from the Spanish court at the National Gallery now. They make a big deal about Australian aboriginal painting, but cannot compare aboriginal painting to the above paintings. The aboriginal painting is like baby painting compare to those Italian masters.

    Renaissance was one of the best period of our history. Many Italians have forgotten what we were able to do.
