Tea or Coffee?

The Japanese and Chinese people mostly drink tea too. Green tea and herbal teas are healthy.

Tea isn't expensive... well, not in the 21st century as this is no longer 1776 when protests in the U.S. over the price of tea caused Tea Parties and the American Revolution.

It's not expensive here at all but most folk here don't drink tea exclusively. I'm not too familiar with green tea myself. I reckon most people here, that aren't of East Asian stock, tend to be recommended those blends by a GP or seek healthier alternatives. Mate has also garnered popularity among hipsters recently. I myself tend to keep Yorkshire Gold, Highland Blend and Irish Breakfast on the shelves in case any visitor would like those better. I nearly always end up drinking those alone.

Luxurious? Well...it's kind of an upper middle class or old school WASP kind of warm beverage here not because of greater expense but pretense, I guess. I drink tea every now and again, but it's Irish breakfast which is a little stronger than its English counterpart. We like Britain but we also like reminding them about how we kicked their asses back in 1776. We're talking about a country that renamed its Anglican church Episcopalian to further rub salt on the wound of our erstwhile colonial masters.

This is what I suspected anyway. The Boston Tea Party also may have something to do with your distrust.
