    Buloy by Parokya ni Edgar

Buloy - Parokya ni Edgar:Inuman Session Vol.1 THE STORY: Buloy was actually a real person, an FEU fine arts student, but he was still alive when the song was written. He was one of the band's close friends kase sobrang bait daw. He actually appeared in the video of Buloy. The song wasn't a true story about him then; they simply got his name. but sadly, some time later, buloy did commit suicide because of several personal problems.

I remember how this particular song used to be on the telly a couple of years ago and we could hear it all the time and everywhere: be it on TV, on radios i tricycles, on screens in airports etc. This because it was part of an official ad campaign by the Filpino government to draw in tourists (I Choose Philippines). It was played like 24/7. And I remember it came in two versions and I will include them both:

    Choose Philippines by Angeline Quinto

Piliin Mo Ang Pilipinas feat. El Gamma Penumbra

A traditional Tboli song called Utom Udel Blila, which translates to "song of the night bird". It is played with the s'loli, a type of lip-valley flute.

Here are some excerpts from a performance of the HELOBUNG CULTURAL TROUPE from Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, Mindanao, Philippines. It was organized by the MUSEUM VOLUNTEERS OF THE PHILIPPINES on the occasion of their 25th anniversary. The complete performance is available on DVD from the Museum Volunteers of the Philippines. You can see and hear the Tboli gong chimes klintang, hanging gongs blowon, drum tnonggong, boat lute hegelung, jaw's harp kumbing, singing and dancing, but there was much more... Time: November 24, 2006 Place: Francisco Santiago Hall, Equitable PCI Bank Tower 1 Please, NOTE: although this is a stage performance, these are real tribal people, it's not an urban high school or "folklore troupe" fake presentation... The copyright 2006 for all the video materials used here stays with the Museum Volunteers of the Philippines. All rights reserved.
