Explain your avatar

I have a new avatar now so I need to explain it. Its the cover art on the book Girl with a Pearl Earring. I love the book, its one of my favorites. Its about a sixteen year old pheasant girl named Griet and is set in Holland. She actually looks a little bit like me in a way because of the soft features, so I think it would be kind of a neat avatar.

Juan de Padilla, the leader of the castilian rebels seems in a very high probability to be related to my mother's family, both families have their origins in the same very little rebel village in Toledo.
Before I knew nothing about this, when I studied at the school this episode of our history, I was fascinated by their figures and very particulary with this painting by Antonio Gisbert, that shows this terrible moment, the end of the rebelion with the execution of the 3 heads of the rebel movement, still studied and quite controversial about the essence of it's claims and identity.

The courage and pride of these Castilians in their last trance, since the first moment I was captured by this scene sharing their last moments, is a reminder for me about courage, strength and "honra" even when everything is lost. Specially then.
