East coast natives are partially or fully European by now and have American-anglo surnames and first names. They are so mixed they do not look like other natives out west who are more pure blood. I know a lot of people with distant local native ancestry. I wouldn't be shocked on my dad's side if I have heron native ancestry from the metis. So I am indigenous. Fuck foreigners.

Meh my major problem is the double standards. Beyond that I really have no other issue with the situation. Descendents of colonials had just about as much choice being born here as the African American decendents of slaves did. Any African or White American whose line has been here for generations is about as American as it gets. "African-Americans" and immigrants with ancestry outside of Europe are not Americans. Nor are they natives, they were just here.

no and yes. But most white people on the east coast have native American ancestry. especially colonials. The Algonquin tribe heavily mixed with Europeans here. That's why there are almost no reservations here because they intermingled with Northern Europeans. So technically we are indigenous to this area.

This is a misconception of Native American civilisation. In some areas they created vast complex settled communities.

From my understanding, European mindset of a vast unused landscape developed because by the time most European settlers reached Native American territories - large swathes of the population had been killed off by disease that preceded their arrival.

This isn't to say that there were not nomadic hunter gathering tribes, but they were not all like that.

Also it is ironic that in the US most "natives" look less Amerindian than the average Mexican does. Personally illegal immigration doesn't bother me, but it's likely the immigrants are more indigenous to the continent than the average "Native American" in the US.

Even if the Natives had immigration policies back then, that wouldn't have stopped the Europeans from colonizing.

Anyway apart from the fact that immigration laws are so lax and under-enforced; they are nothing but a man-made concept.
