    Default Vlad Tepes an E-V13?

    http://www.plosone.org/article/info%...l.pone.0041803
According to this study, Vlad and the House of Basarab, from which he was a member, was of E-V13 or I2a Y-DNA lineage. The E-V13 is more numerous among people of Basarab surname, and also more ancient, therefore there could be a chance of Basarab ruler Vlad Tepes being an E-V13. Basarab I was refered by his contemporaries as a Vlach, and a lot of Vlachs are E-V13, furthermore, even though his father's name is of Cuman origin, were he a descendant of Genghis Khan he'd not make a secret of it. In my opinion, it is fairly probable he was indeed an E-V13.

lol if he was I2c I could be paternally related to him..... Why do you say I2c again? The oldest European haplogroup but also the rarest?

Sorry to be a buzz kill, but it's actually I2a. I've mixed things while typing.

Ok, then basically Bassarab family is compromised of I2a2b and E-V13, which is two most common haplogroups in Romania. Not very surprising.

Didn't know E-V13 was so common in Romania, I mean, I knew it's common there, but not one of the most common. Good to know though.

    It's very common all the way to Moldova. It goes I2a2b > E-V13 > R1a1a > miscellaneous

I fond it very interesting one of the greatest European monarchs belongs to a haplogroup rare in Europe.

I read somewhere before that J2b was also found among the Basarabs.

Yeah, J2b and R1a, however, the major haplogroup is E-V13 followed by I2a.

Truly he could have been part of any Y-DNA haplogroup but yes if E-V13 is the most numerous among individuals of the Basarab name then it seems quite likely he was E-V13.
