5 Stages of Grief:
Denial: The initial stage: "It can't be happening." Maniot is on top of me.
Anger: "Why ME? It's not fair?!" (either referring to God, oneself, or Maniot perceived, rightly or wrongly, as "responsible")
Bargaining: "Just let me stay to post another day Maniot, please."
Depression: "I'm so sad, why are you picking on me Maniot?"
Acceptance: "It's going to be OK." There is always Skadi.

I have a better arrangement: why don't you Greeks work for it ?
Why don't you guys go working your butts off in the way my (grand)fathers generation did and become a wealthy country like the Netherlands or Germany ?
Stop being the Africans of Europe.
Wake up and smell the coffee.

I am not good at all with the banking/financial stuff so I can't understand who did exactly what and how this went mathematically wrong, but here's my two cents anyway:
the Greeks aren't welfare niggers. But they are extremely naive and extremely materialistic and individualistic at the same time.
The last two-three generations of Greeks fell for promises and lies for a better future, and willingly or not, they jumped into the bandwagon of corruption by voting over and over for the same two families that have been ruling (and ruining) Greece since the 70s.
At first, let's say the people was naive, they wanted to get out of poverty and live an easier life. Everybody was getting their hands on a little slice of the pie. The governments kept stealing and embezzling the biggest slice, of course, but noone noticed or cared since everyone was busy living their nouveau riche dream.
In the early 90s there also arose the capitalist trend through the media, and everyone wanted cell phones, faster cars, bigger homes, designer clothes, fancy vacations. Not only on a national level but also on an individual level, people got accustomed to the habit of loaning in order to satisfy their new materialistic needs.
And while at first, let's say that as a people we got deceived and force-fed this nouveau riche lifestyle, after some point, those who keep endorsing it (by voting for the same corrupt governors, first and foremost), are either corrupt themselves, or criminally stupid.

I fear it are more people then just the Greeks. Let's not forget speculators* who use loaned money as a leverage effect to gain greater profits. Which all works fine and well if all goes well. But when things go wrong the leverage works the others way and the downs are also larger thanks to it.
At the height of the crash last year if I had sold everything in my portofolio I would have only made a loss of around €10,-, not bad for something that is worth a lot more. But for the speculators it would be a lot worse, because now they have no big profits to pay back the loans with. So their losses increase .
*I refuse calling them investors because they have more in common with gambling addicts.

'The Nazis took our gold, they should at least thank us': Greek PM's extraordinary attack on Germany over debt crisis
Greece has launched an extraordinary attack on Germany over its debt crisis, accusing the nation of failing to offer compensation for the economic impact of the Nazi occupation.
Deputy prime minister Theodoros Pangalos said the largest EU nation had no right to criticise Greece's finances, especially when the World War II occupation had wrecked its economy and slaughtered thousands
