I can hypothesize that the regional split of the Vlach settlers in Greece, in relation to those in Moldova/Wallachia, was old enough so as to create a distinctive barrier between the two, one that eventually solidified into different medieval then modern identities. That was probably the case also with Arvanites and Albanians, as well as Slavic Macedonians and Bulgarians. I also believe that the Phanariote establishment could have had a role in this, due to is influence over matters in Wallachia.

All of this requires further discourse, but as a hypothesis I believe it could provide some insight.
I've never heard Romanians calling them Greek and I'm from a region with a large presence of Aromanians. Don't listen to Nurzat, he writes a lot of BS.

Phanariote establishment was in both Wallachia and Moldova, and is older than 18th century, it goes back to late 16th century when both countries became politically and economically dependent on the Ottoman Empire and plenty of Greeks started to move here and slowly penetrate local elites via mariages with members of boyar families.

Aromanians are in fact our brothers Macedonians!

The Aromanians are known by several other names, such as "Vlachs" or "Macedo-Romanians"

Vlachs in Greece mixed extensively with Arvanites creating the communities of the so-called "Arvanitovlachs".

Use the "translate to English" function for the following interesting piece.
