Top 25 Plastic Surgery Countries
The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), in accordance to several of the organisation’s missions, annually releases the ISAPS Biennial Global Survey of plastic surgeons in the top twenty-five countries and regions. This list represents 75% of all the procedures conducted in the region in the past year.
This survey has become one of the bastions of reliable international plastic surgery data, since it helps organisations and governing bodies obtain and analyse market and industry information that has been gathered by independent statistical specialists.
The ISAPS Global Survey revealed the countries with the most surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures in 2009. The United States tops the list. The list also revealed other countries as emerging major centers for plastic surgery. The complete list of the top twenty-five countries and regions are:

The United States accounted for 17.5%, or 3,031,146 surgical and non surgical procedures. Brazil had 2,475,237, or 14.3%, while China had 2,193,935, or 12.7%.
The same three countries also have the most number of plastic surgeons; there are 5,700 plastic surgeons in the U.S., 4,250 in China, and 3,824 in Brazil.
The survey also established the numbers for surgical and non-surgical procedures. Non-surgical procedures surpass surgical procedures, according to the data. Although this figure cannot be compared due to the lack of baseline information, it could prove useful in the coming years.
Botulinum, or the Botox injection, is the top non-surgical procedure accounting for 32.7% of the total non-surgical treatments. Hyaluronic acid injection, commonly for face lift treatments, is at number two with 20.1%. Laser hair removal comes at third with 13.1%. Among the top plastic surgery countries, the US has the most number of Botox injection treatments and laser hair removal. Brazil tops the other countries when it comes to hyaluronic acid injections.
Liposuction is the most commonly done surgical procedure. There was a total of 1,607,979 liposuction surgeries performed in 2009. Breast augmentation is at number two with 1,454,317 total and blepharoplasty, or surgery of the eyelids, is at third with 1,153,756. China is the top country for both breast augmentation and blepharoplasty, while the United States tops the list for liposuction.
The ISAPS Survey was compiled, tabulated, and analysed by Industry Insights, Inc., a private research firm based in Ohio. Survey participants completed a two-page questionnaire that focused on the number of surgical and non-surgical procedures they performed in 2009. The study invited approximately 20,000 plastic surgeons whose contact information are kept in file by the ISAPS. The complete results can be found on the ISAPS website: http://www.isaps.org/.

(Hint: It's Not The U.S.)
Total aesthetic/cosmetic procedures performed per 1,000 people, 2011
Between Joan Rivers, Bruce Jenner, and the Playboy Mansion, the United States has certainly earned a reputation for being, shall we say, a little less than au naturel when it comes to matters of beauty. Indeed, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons claims that 14.6 million cosmetic plastic surgery procedures were performed in the U.S. in 2012, up five percent from the previous year.
According to data from the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Goldman Sachs, it's Italy, Greece, and South Korea who are the biggest fans of cosmetic procedures.
In 2011, these three countries had the highest percentages of aesthetic procedures per 1,000 people, although Brazil, Columbia, and the U.S. weren't far behind.
If it's natural beauty you're after, the map shows that much of Africa, Scandinavia, and Greenland are fairly surgery-free, whilst the Donatella Versaces of the world overtook the US for cosmetic surgery per 1,000 people.

According to a recent study conducted by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, nearly 15 million cosmetic procedures were performed across the world in 2011. The third annual report, entitled "Global Study of Aesthetic/Cosmetic Surgery Procedures Performed in 2011," surveyed licensed surgeons from various nations and combined that data with surgeon estimates provided by each country's surgery board to provide a glimpse into the frequency of such procedures worldwide.
The results revealed some interesting trends in aesthetic preferences as well as various health issues. For example, the United States unsurprisingly ranked first among countries performing breast augmentations, while three Asian countries -- China, Japan, and South Korea -- ranked in the top-five countries performing rhinoplasties (nose jobs).
And while Botox injections remained the top non-surgical procedure performed worldwide -- reflecting a universal desire to fight the effects of aging -- the top surgical procedure overall was lipoplasty, which is becoming ever-more popular as countries battle the increasingly dire obesity epidemic.
Furthermore, the Economist noted that the study's findings may be somewhat unexpected when taking into account total population. While the U.S. ranked first in total number of cosmetic procedures performed, for example, the country actually ranked fourth in procedures per capita, behind South Korea, Greece, and Italy.

Bear in mind that these figures relate to the total amount of cosmetic and plastic surgical procedures for each nation, and where nations have larger populations, it isn't surprising if they also have the highest amount of surgical procedures recorded.
The top 3 nations in the world for cosmetic and plastic surgery per every 1,000 people in 2011 were Italy, Greece, South Korea, whilst the US was the fourth nation in the world for cosmetic and plastic surgery, per every 1,000 people.
