Most are very fair-skinned, but the hair is a lot darker than in Scandinavians on average.

I think Ireland's Rugby players are on the darker side for Ireland, but English are still lighter than Irish, people who disagree just base it on stereotypes.

Leaving aside that it is not a particularly successful team anyway, they're darker than I'd expect (look at the football team by comparison). Are they mainly Bavarians?

I'm still convinced the football team is lighter.

Nevertheless, I do agree that German blondness is often overrated, especially when people claim that they are dramatically lighter than the English. (Germans are blonder than the English, but the point is that the difference is not as enormous as some people think).

Probably not, but they are blonder than the Welsh and Irish, even if in skin and eye colour they'd be on par if not a bit darker than those two groups.

English are blonder than Germans, theres only one blonde on the German football team whereas about 1/3 of the English rugby team are, and thats not taking into account the fact that Rugby players are usually on the darker side.

Blonder than Welsh, yes. I'm not sure about the Irish. South Germans and Irish are both mostly medium to dark brown haired.
