A lust for power has obviously been a major motivation for many people throughout history, but that power-lust would not have been quenched if only women submitted to the man's authority. In fact, considering that women had almost no rights at all throughout most of history, I'd reckon that a lust for power was more focused on having other MEN submit to the power of the person, rather than other women....

And considering that women were virtually property in much of history, I doubt many historical powerful figures would have cared whether or not women "liked" them.

Average man's dream is to be feared and envied/respected by other men, and wanted by women.

Well motivation or drive to achieve in the brain works through the same pathways as sexual drive and arousal. So Freud writing a book on that and making it seem like it’s some complex shit is literally retarded and autistic. No shit. The healthier your dopamine system the more driven you will be both sexually and towards whatever goals you want to achieve.

The problem with humans is that we are too intelligent and we can question and talk about our biological drives. If we can do that and truly understand their mechanisms we can also change the magnitude of the effect that they have on us and if we have total control over ourselves we can stop them completely.

From there we can ignore our drives and nature and act only rationally. But this will end people in an existential crisis for almost everyone. Because if we remove our irrational drive to breed and impress sexual mates there is really no reason for us to be here. Even if your driver is human progress. What for? Even with all the technological progress and progress in knowledge. What is the ultimate goal or reason of it all? Cool we will visit the entire universe and discover everything. Fantastic.

Understanding this we can only pursue pleasure and hedonistic pursuits. Because it is the only comfort we have in a empty devoid of purpose world. This can take many forms such as drugs, sex, and lavish material things.

Pleasure is the pursuit of the rational man today. Not just sex and reproduction.

Socially wise, women are validated by sex.
They need to be sexually atractive to have value as a woman.
Men are invalidated by sex( or the lack of it).
It is assumed that lots of sex is normal for men, therefore if sex is not the priority of a man, he is seen as being as less of a man.
The problem is that in both causes, the success at sex don't really bring any sort of happiness, as happiness is a long term thing that is not depending of any sort of pleasure.
Also, validation by society doesn't bring peace at your heart, because the only place you can find peace is inside yourself.
I can be seen as a loser but if i don't care, them i am much closer to true happiness than the ones that need society to validate them as winners, because, in this case, i would be closer to satisfaction, where as these others would never be truly satisfied, it would be an eternal greed.
Sex makes you dependant. Sex is weakness.

Though I would say there would still be a reason for us to be here. Sex is just an act of pleasure like pursuing money or success or anything in life, you're not necessarily doing it to attract the opposite sex.

The Buddha didn't meditate under a tree for weeks to attract the opposite sex. It was his purpose in life. He had a meaning in life. Having a meaning or a goal gives a sense of purpose and existence even without a sexual partner and a meaning of survival, that survival doesn't have to be reproducing but just you as a person surviving and keep going because you exist after all.

This isn't to take away reproduction, it will of course happen no matter what, but there are other pleasures in life and things we can accomplish that aren't necessarily done to attract sex or the opposite sex because you could attract the opposite sex without even doing those things. Though it is true some people do it because of that.


If the only meaning was reproduction, even then it would be meaningless, we're all gonna die one day and this planet is gonna one day be destroyed either from an accident, natural causes or humans destroying it eventually. So it is all meaningless even then.



This is why some people believe in higher spirits or religion, it gives a sense of meaning to their life, that isn't all for nothing and that we don't exist for nothing. Some people get a meaning through finding a passion or goals to accomplish.
