A lot of dogs are.

When I was a kid, we lived in a tiny rural village of a couple hundred people. Everyone did some small-scale farming type of stuff, even if it wasn't their primary way of getting food. Most people had chickens. So a lot of people had big dogs for specifically just guarding the property. We had one, and he was trained by some ex-military dog trainer. Absolutely perfect animal, and he was also very expensive due to being very well bred. Zero issues with him ever, obeyed every command, never misbehaved, could be trusted around babies. He would have ran into traffic and died if my dad commanded it, without a second thought.

Now I live in the US and everyone has a poorly bred mutt from a backyard breeder or pibble-infested shelter who they neglect to train, the dogs are always pissing everywhere and jumping on guests, barking at every leaf that falls outside, mauling toddlers, won't listen, etc. and they are all "fur babies". My Ukrainian dog trainer friend says that the best thing to do with these dogs is behavioral euthanasia, because most of them have terrible genetics and even if someone did attempt to train them to be decent dogs it simply wouldn't work due to the bad genetics, and I agree. They are terrible animals. But the weird obsession people have with dogs being better than people allowed so many of them to become this bad and for most people to genuinely not see the issue with it.

It will sound very off-putting, but for the US... It fits into the human world to a very, very large degree.

I was born in central Croatia but I lived also by the sea and every summer I spend there. I adore sea, scuba diving, sun...about food, I love mediterranean food, but not arthropoda or mollusca. I eat mostly fish
