I'd tell them to shove it up their arse. 1000 miles would be somewhere in Eastern Europe, Northern Scandinavia, North-West Africa or the Atlantic.

The UK is not the USA... you wouldn't have to relocate 1000 miles to find a similar job available.

I could travel that distance on a horse nigh of a fortnight. In fact, I did do that. And I won the game, best mayn I ded it.

No problem, as long as there was plenty of overtime, my job takes me all over the UK; Lodging away from home would be no trauma, in fact i could do it standing on my head, this is exactly what i have been doing for the best part of 25 years anyway.
My children are adults and i have 14 years before retirement, so making money is the name of the game?

The job requiring that distance would most likely be abroad. The question I'd ask myself is why isn't there a [insert nationality here] able to do the job I do?

I wouldn't take the job unless I had strongly got the vibe that the job wasn't being filled by a competent native.
