Somalia: Poor musical tradition?

Somalia, and even the the Horn in general, does not have a noteworthy musical tradition unlike the rest of Africa. Is it because of Islam or some other reason?

Most Somalis I have known and interacted with have not been interested in music or have been young ghetto immigrants who listen to hip-hop and club music to fit in with other immigrants. Why?

It's an interesting point you bring up though. That area of the world certainly seems to be lacking in many cultural aspects.
